Pacer aims to transform running into a welcoming experience rather than a daunting task for newcomers. Pacer employs a supportive, data-driven approach to customise training sessions, avoiding the one-size-fits-all approach that many conventional apps take. This is where it begins.

The Result

Pacer is a user-centred running application designed to assist non-runners in cultivate a supportive and positive relationship with running. Through positive reinforcement, it emphasises the user’s emotional experience and acknowledges progress that goes beyond data and statistics. The app invites users to check in with how they feel before and after each run, establishing a mindful connection between their emotions and performance. As Pacer’s purpose is to create a personal and motivating environment, it encourages users to connect with running at their own pace. Conceptually, Pacer positions itself as a digital companion rather than a performance tracker. This approach transforms running from a purely physical activity into a holistic experience for new runners.

Main Application Features

Emotional Tracking

Pacer invites users to check in with how they feel before and after each run, creating a healthy emotional connection to exercise. Instead of focusing purely on statistics, this feature helps users feel recognise while the application caters each run to the users mood. Over time, this builds a deeper and more compassionate relationship with running by transforming it from something intimidating into a personal supported journey.

Difficulty Selector

Users have the option to select the intensity of their run, whether it’s an easy jog, or a more active session. This flexible approach removes pressure and supports beginners in progressing at their own pace. This flexibility removes the pressure found in traditional performance-driven apps and encourages sustainable progress. The goal isn’t to chase numbers, but to help users build confidence and momentum gradually.

Pre & Post Run Stretches

Stretching is essential before and after exercise and yet many fitness apps overlook it, especially for beginners. The guided pre- and post-run stretching routines assists new runners prepare, and reduce the risk of injury. Therefore by integrating mobility and recovery into every session, Pacer reinforces that caring for the body is part of the journey and not a separate task left for users to navigate on their own.
